Maria Sokolova

Artistic Director International Master Course, Dancer and Teacher

Maria Sokolova got her Bachelor degree in Dance at Samara State Pedagogical University. Together with it she graduated from Samara State University with her Masters degree in English language and literature. She studied modern and contemporary dance techniques with European, Israeli, American and Russian teachers.

Maria is a Laureate and Grand Prix prizewinner of Russian and International festivals as dancer and choreographer. Participated in the famous television dance show ‘Dance on TNT’ and was among the TOP-50 best dancers of the country. Participated in the Ultima Vez company educational program in Brussels. 

Followed professional training programmes by Provincial Dances Theatre in Russia, as well as laboratories and creations with Iñaki Azpillaga (Belgium), Paul Matteson (USA), Yael Cibulski (Israel), Simone Mousset (Luxembourg), Olga Labovkina (Belorussia) and Milan Tomásik (Slovenia).

Since 2018 she has become a teacher and choreographer of the studio under the name of the international company Provincial Dances Theatre (Yekaterinburg, Russia). Created a special method and new educational programme for students of the studio.

Worked and toured throughout Russia with several companies; joined Skandalisi Dance as a dancer in 2018. Maria Sokolova became an artistic director of International Master Course (IMC) in 2019.

Maria is leading school projects and intensives, lecturing on technique training and curriculum, creating short and full-length dance performances.
