Andrea Garay Almada
Director Nómada Proyecto Escénico, Dancer and Teacher
She started her professional training in contemporary dance at CEDART, a performing Arts High School in Mexico City, later on she received her BA in Contemporary dance at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla, where she also obtained a Minor in Fine Arts. During this period she danced in pieces of different choreographers such as Christina Golleti, Ray Schwartz, José Zamora, Charlotte Griffin, Pedro Beiro and Francisco Carrera. She has participated in different festivals and forums such as ArcDanz (Mx/USA), MELT: Movement Research (USA). Performática: International forum of contemporary dance and moving arts (Mx), Encuentro Nacional de Danza (México) Camp:in (Mx), among others. She has complemented her dancing training with many internationally renowned artists including: Francisco Córdova, Aladino R. Blanca, Leif Firnhaber, Take Ueyama, Shantí Vera, Alicia Sánchez, Levy Gonzalez, Martín Keohg, Diego Sanoú, Karen de Luna and more.
In 2015 she became a member of Müuval Dance Company (México) where she developed in artistic collaboration the pieces NADA () and P.A.R. In 2016 she attended to an artistic residence with L’Space Compagnia di Danza (Palermo, Italia) under the direction of Giovanni Zapulla and danced in the piece Natural Landscapes.
In 2017 she started working as a professional dancer in R+R arte en Movimiento Dance company under the direction of Rocío Becerril (México).
Currently, she is the co-creator of Nómada Proyecto Escénico, dance project that aims to investigate new ways of articulate movement as a language and focuses on social issues and every day life problems.
Andrea joined Skandalisi Dance in 2018.
Since 2019 Skandalisi Dance and Nómada Proyecto Escénico Collaborating in several projects.
